Paolo Nori
La bambina fulminante

The collaboration between BooksinItaly and transmission of Rai Radio 3 Fahrenheit, the most important Italian literary radio program, continues to offer our Italian and foreign readers an audio extract of Fahrenheit’s presentation of its Book of the Month. This month the listeners of the program have chosen La bambina fulminante by Paolo Nori.

Fahrenheit’s Book of the Month for March 2015: Paolo Nori, La bambina fulminante (Rizzoli)
Listen here the podcast of the radio show (in Italian)

The Little Fulminating Girl, Paolo Nori’s second book for children, is the one-minute lasting story of Ada, a little girl with a big power: every time she curses somebody, or pulls them a damn, that damn comes true as long as the curse is in rhyming. So, teachers stay home sick for a long time, as well as high-and-mighty schoolmates get hurt while skiing… and so on. Written in Paolo Nori’s usual, crooked and ungrammatical style, the novel is meant for readers aged 8 and up: it’s a funny story and, at the same time, a reflection on the power of words and poetry.
